Mississippi Valley State University will coordinate activities in establishing the MVSU Office of Minority Health Disparities. This program will focus on education and prevention. The MVSU Office of Minority Health Disparities will partner with seven (7) counties (Leflore, Sunflower, Bolivar, Washington, Humphreys, Holmes and Tallahatchie) in the Mississippi Delta to provide seminars/sessions that address health issues related to HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and prostate cancer. The University will also address issues of prevention by working with local school districts in those respective counties to educate their students about these illnesses and the serious health risks associated with obesity. The education/prevention seminars will include pre-test and post-tests of knowledge.
