University Mississippi Medical Center University Mississippi Medical Center, Michael Flessner M.D. Ph.D., Professor of Medicine and Chief of Nephrology, is Principal Investigator of the project on “Healthcare Disparities in Chronic Kidney Disease.” This project is designed to address healthcare disparities affecting African Americans with chronic kidney disease. To date, 238 patients have been recruited, and data have been collected on demographics, insurance, height, weight, BMI, biochemistry (serum creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum albumin, intact parathyroid hormone), the SF- 36 Quality of Life, and Locus of Control. The data will be compiled and analyzed in May-June. A draft publication is anticipated by July 2007.
