Mississippi Primary Health Care Association (MPHCA)

Mississippi Primary Health Care Association's Recruitment and Retention Component focuses on increasing its recruitment

and retention capacity by addressing the unmet need and maldistribution of minority health professionals in Mississippi .

Through this component, strategies are developed and implemented to effectively recruit and retain licensed minority primary

care providers to underserved areas of the state; track minority medical students throughout their professional training

programs; and improve access to primary and preventative medical care for all Mississippians.

GOALS:

Improve the state’s ability to recruit regionally by identifying/tracking and visiting Mississippi ’s minority residents who attend out-of-state health professional schools and residency programs.

Develop an interactive website as a recruitment tool to further expand the capacity of MPHCA recruiting activities for rural health care facilities and assist to better identify potential primary care staff.

Develop a statewide recruitment program that will provide technical assistance to rural health care facilities in the development of a long-term recruitment plan to facilitate adequate planning for future recruitment of providers.
